There’s a saying that goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” This is true when it comes to viewing vehicles online. In fact, 82% of car buyers consider photos the most helpful piece of information when shopping for a car online.

How Can High-Quality Photos Increase My Vehicle’s Chance of Selling at an Auto Auction?

When you buy something used online, whether on eBay or Facebook Marketplace, you’re going to look at the photos to see its condition. The quality of the photos can make or break the chance of that item being sold. The same applies to judging a vehicle’s worth based on its photos.

2 surveys were conducted by Redline and CarCutter to highlight the importance of high-quality images when selling a car. Here were the results.

Redline Survey

Redline, a photo, video, and data collection specialist in the automotive industry, conducted a survey where 375 adults were asked how images of a vehicle play a role in their decision to buy a car.

Higher Perceived Value

95% of the participants agreed that high-quality photos of a vehicle on a dealership’s website increased their perceived value. High-quality photos can showcase the vehicle’s features, its condition, and enhance the overall visual appeal. The nicer the vehicle looks, the more valuable it appears.

Click Rate

87% of consumers are more likely to click on a vehicle with a clear, well-lit photo over one with a blurry, poorly lit photo.

Less Price Negotiation

57% of car shoppers think a dealership featuring professional images would need to engage in less price negotiation.

CarCutter Survey

CarCutter, a company specializing in enhanced car photography, also performed a survey that found 95% of the participants believe that high-quality car images play a huge role when looking for cars online.

Click Rate

They compared a regular photo of a car to a professional photo and 79.3% of participants preferred the professional image and clicked on it.

Willing to Pay More

Participants were also willing to pay approximately $2,000 more for the car that was presented professionally.

Improved Website View

Participants explained that a website with professional, uniform photos of cars improved the overall appearance of the entire website.
