Have you ever tried selling something at a garage sale and it didn’t sell, so you posted it on Facebook Marketplace and it sold through there? This is similar to a dealer selling their vehicle through an online platform after not being able to sell it at an auto auction.
Since 2008, Big Valley Auto Auction has done everything to help our dealers make a sale. In 2016, we offered dealers the opportunity to sell their vehicles through online platforms, to help increase their chance of selling.
In this article, you’re going to learn what online platforms Big Valley Auto Auction allows you to use, the benefits they offer, and whether you should sell through any of these platforms.
After reading this article, you’ll have the information needed to decide if any of the following online platforms are useful for your business.
There are 3 online platforms Big Valley Auto Auction uses to promote dealers’ vehicles if they didn’t sell during auction day:
There are 5 benefits of selling your vehicle on an online platform if your vehicle didn’t sell during the live auction.
One benefit of online platforms is that they allow you to keep your vehicles on your lot. This means you won’t have to transport your inventory to the auction.
Big Valley Auto Auction provides an Outside The Gate (OTG) program that sends a condition report writer to evaluate your vehicle on site and provide a condition report at no charge. Once completed, the information will get uploaded to the online platform of your choosing and posted for sale.
65% of the world’s population has access to the internet. While not every one of those people is a car buyer, a section of them are. Online platforms expose your vehicle to over 100,000 registered dealers throughout the nation. If you want to sell your vehicle, you’re going to want it to be accessible to as many buyers as possible.
A recent success story is a buyer from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic bought a vehicle from our Donna, Texas lot. (That’s about 1,866 miles away.)
Not only is your vehicle visible to over 10,000 dealers, but it’s also visible 24 hours a day. This allows buyers to view and buy your vehicle at any time.
Along with being visible 24 hours a day, there is no time limit for how long your inventory can be listed for sale. OVE allows dealers to set the time limit for their vehicle. You can list your vehicle for up to 14 days and if your vehicle doesn’t sell within those 14 days, you can repost your vehicle for another 14 days with no fee.
There are no fees to list your vehicle for sale on online platforms. You’ll only pay when you sell your vehicle. The online platform predetermines the sale fee, which is based on the vehicle’s sale price. The higher the sale price, the higher the fee.
Most dealerships have a “Turn Time”, which is a 45-60 day timeframe in which they have to sell their vehicle. It’s advisable to post within this time, because the longer it doesn’t sell, the older it gets and suffers from depreciation.
Online platforms offer plenty of benefits to help dealers sell their inventory if it didn’t sell during an auction. Companies like OVE, SmartAuction, and Auction Edge expose your vehicles to a wide audience, which increases your vehicle’s possibility of selling.
Whether this is your first time selling at an auto auction or you’re thinking about using an online platform, you can use this article as a guide to help you decide if any of these online platforms are right for you.
