Have you ever had your bank account frozen or closed? This happens when you have an overdraft, fail to provide certain information, or account inactivity. Similar factors can cause dealers to be locked out of their Big Valley Auto Auction account.
Big Valley Auto Auction has been a dealer-only auction since 2008. In 2012, we offered dealers the option to bid online. However, there have been instances throughout the years where dealers were locked out of their accounts and didn't know why.

Why Did I Get Locked Out of My Big Valley Auto Auction Account?
Getting locked out of your Big Valley account prevents you from being able to bid or view your purchase history with our auction. Here are 7 reasons your account could be locked.
- Inactivity
- Unpaid fees
- Missing documents
- Expired documents
- Auction insurance
- Non-Compliant with Policies and Procedures
- Change of Address
How Do I Reactivate My Big Valley Auto Auction Account?
As mentioned above, there are 7 factors that can lead to account lockout. We’re going to break down each factor and how to resolve the issue.
Inactivity
If you buy vehicles through Auction Edge but have not been active with Big Valley Auto Auction, your Big Valley account will be locked. Even if you’ve been active with other auctions, inactivity for at least a year with our auction will prevent you from bidding.
To reactivate your account, you must contact us to confirm your account information.
Unpaid Fees
AuctionACCESS Fee
As of July 1st, 2023, Big Valley Auto Auction requires all registered dealers to have an AuctionACCESS account, in order to buy and sell with us. AuctionACCESS requires you to pay a yearly membership fee of $103.00. If you have not paid the membership fee, your Big Valley account will be locked until it’s paid.
After you’ve made the payment, your AuctionACCESS account will be reactivated and you will be allowed to bid at Big Valley Auto Auction.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
AR is when you owe an amount for unpaid services from Big Valley Auto Auction, such as us taking out a vehicle for you or filling your vehicle up with gas. Even something as low as $20.00 can hold you back.
Paying off any remaining balance will unlock your account.
Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) Fee
If your check is returned due to not having enough money in your account to cover payment, you will be charged an NSF fee. This fee will not be removed until you pay it off.
Once you pay the NSF fee and have sufficient funds for the vehicle, we will unlock your account.
Unit Non-Payments
Failure to pay for your vehicle will cause your Big Valley account to be locked. We will call Auction Insurance to report you and you will be entered into KO Book, (or as our Dealer Registration Specialist, Marlene calls it, “Auction Jail”.)
Once you've paid for your vehicle, your account will be accessible again.
Auction Insurance
Individuals that are considered uninsurable will be placed in KO Book. The KO book is a list kept by floor plan creditors that would prevent you from getting future floor plan financing. It will notify us and other auto auctions that you should be banned from further participation in future auctions.
Defaulting in your floorplan will also put you in KO Book. Defaulting occurs when you fail to repay the flooring company’s loan to purchase your vehicle. If an individual in the business defaults, it deactivates the entire business account. The owner must call Big Valley Auto Auction in order to reactivate the account.
Missing Documents
Both Big Valley Auto Auction and AuctionACCESS require you to provide the following 3 documents:
- Dealer authorization form
- Individual authorization form
- Dealer license
Big Valley Auto Auction also requires:
- Bond
- Employee Identification Number (EIN)
- Sales Tax Certificate
- Voided check
We will unlock your account once you have provided all the documents.
Expired Documents
If the following documents have expired, your account will be locked:
- Drivers license
- Dealer license
- ID
If not up to date, these documents can also prevent you from picking up titles and checks. Once updated, we will unlock your account.
Failing to Comply With Our Policies
We have policies in place to ensure the safety and fairness of our dealers. The following situations will result in account lockout:
- Driving too fast while test driving
- Sharing bidder badge
- Impersonating someone (We verify IDs)
P Number Change (Dealer Number)
If your dealership changes locations, your P number may change. You must update your address on your dealer license and Big Valley Auto Auction account. If the address on your document does not match your current dealership address, you must change it to unlock your account.
Sometimes dealers will be allowed to keep the same P number, but your number might change when you change locations. If the P number changes, you’ll have to create a new account. (Technically, it’s considered a new business.)
