Have you ever gone shopping and seen a large amount of clothes in the Clearance rack? Those clothes are there because they didn’t sell within a specific time period. For example, you’ll find beach shorts and tank tops in the Clearance rack when Fall and Winter come around. They’ll be sold for a cheaper price because stores just need to get rid of them. But if those clothes don’t sell, they’ll be donated to thrift stores or sent back to a warehouse. The same goes for Weekly inventory and Buy Now inventory.

Big Valley Auto Auction has been around since 2008 and we run multiple types of vehicles, 52 sales a year. However, not every single vehicle sells on auction day.

In this article, you’re going to learn the difference between Weekly inventory and Buy Now inventory, when Weekly inventory becomes Buy Now inventory, and if they still qualify for reconditioning and inspection services.

What is the Difference Between Big Valley Auto Auction’s Weekly Inventory and Buy Now Inventory?

There are 4 differences between Big Valley’s Weekly and Buy Now Inventory.

Weekly inventory is all of the vehicles that are going to sell at our upcoming Thursday Early Bird Sale at 9:30 AM and online Second Chance Sale at 4:00 PM. The list of weekly inventory is available on the Big Valley website, allowing dealers to see what vehicles will be available to bid on that week.

Buy Now inventory are the vehicles that were not sold during either of our Thursday sales. Similar to Summer clothes going to the Clearance rack when Winter hits, vehicles that didn’t sell will be listed as “Buy Now” on our website once our Second Chance sale has ended and will be available to purchase online. You do have the option to bid on these vehicles, but some of these vehicles already have set asking prices. However, you can still negotiate the price, similar to a normal sale day.

Prices for Buy Now inventory are typically less than their original price when they were Weekly inventory. Some Buy Now vehicles will have a starting price already set, but you may still have the opportunity to send an offer on some vehicles. For example, a Buy Now vehicle that’s labeled as “$6,250 or send offer” means the asking price is $6,250 but they are willing to accept an offer or negotiate the price with you.

However, you don’t have long to make that offer. Once Weekly inventory becomes Buy Now, after the Second Chance sale, it will only be available until the following Monday at 5:00 PM. If Buy Now inventory is not sold by the following Monday, the dealer will decide to either run it again at the next Thursday sale or just pick it up and take it back to their dealership.

Can Big Valley Auto Auction’s Buy Now Inventory Still Receive Reconditioning and Inspection Services?

If you’re a dealer who decides to run your inventory again, you can request reconditioning services, to help improve your vehicle’s appearance for a new audience. Something as simple as a wash could potentially bring in an extra $300-$400.

If you bought a vehicle that was listed as “Buy Now”, you are still able to request inspection services. A post-sale inspection will check the mechanical, structural, and electrical components of the vehicle, to fix your vehicle before taking it to your dealership.

Should I Buy Weekly Inventory or Buy Now Inventory?

If you’re fine with waiting until Winter to buy Summer clothes, then you may be okay with buying leftover inventory. However, if you’re someone who likes to stay on schedule and want to get your vehicle on time, then making it to our sale day to bid on our weekly inventory would be a better choice.

Whether you’re attending your first Big Valley Auto Auction sale day or you’re just curious as to why we have 2 different inventory lists on our website, knowing the difference between Weekly and Buy Now inventory could be helpful navigating through your Big Valley journey.
